ACCW President

To our president, Karen R. Horace, and her Officers

Father, You guide and govern everything with order and love.
Look upon the assembly of our ACCW officers during this Christmas season and into the New Year as they continue in their mission.
Fill them with the spirit of Your wisdom.
May they always act in accordance with Your will
and their decisions be for the peace and well-being of all. Amen.

ACCW Spiritual Advisor

   Rev. John W. Clemens,

   ACCW Spiritual Advisor

Rev. John Clemens was born November 26, 1946 to Viola and Clarence Clemens. He attended St. Timothy and St. Hilary grammar schools in Chicago and entered Quigley in 1960. He attended Niles College Seminary and St. Mary of the Lake Seminary and was ordained on May 10, 1972. His Diaconate assignment was at Santa Maria del Popolo in Mundelein and St. James in Arlington Heights.

His first assignment as a priest was at St. Damian in Oak Forest. He next served at St. Agnes in Chicago Heights. During his assignment at St. Agnes as Associate Pastor, Fr. Clemens was appointed Associate Director of the Office of Religious Education, a position he held for 8 years. After moving to St. Gregory the Great as a resident, he was named pastor for 13 years. After a Sabbatical at CTU, Fr. Clemens was elected to the full time position on the Priests' Placement Board with residency at St. Benedict on Irving Park. Fr. Clemens has served on many boards of the Archdiocese including the ACP, the Schools Office, and has served three terms on the Presbyteral Council.

He has worked as a Spiritual Director for the Cursillo movement in Chicago~ The Worldwide Marriage Encounter Movement, CRHP, Chicago Engaged Encounter, the Assumpta Curia of the Legion of Mary, and the Aquin Guild.   Among his many parishes and diocesan activities, Fr. Clemens would list his greatest moments, as those years spent as one of the Spiritual Directors of the Search for Christian Maturity. Working with this youth-oriented retreat program, Fr. Clemens was able to touch the faith life of thousands of young people in the Archdiocese and develop lasting friendships, which are an important part of his life. One such youth was Rev. James Presta.

Fr. Clemens’ family includes his sister Lorraine Sulhoff, nephew Mike Sulhoff and his son Tyler, James Sulhoff, wife Betty and son James, Tom Sulhoff, wife Maureen and daughter Jackie, Diana Hoppner, husband Chris and children Sam, Emily, Ben, Aaron and Zachary.  Fr. Clem is proud of his Luxembourg heritage. He is probably the only 100% Luxembourg descent Priest in the Archdiocese.  He is also an avid if not skillful golfer and a Chicago Sports Fan. He is a Card Carrying Die Hard Cub Fan.

Fr. Clemens is currently Pastor of Our Lady of Hope Parish since July, 2008.
